ABOUT NEIGHBOURHOOD

Wanless Park is a small, pocket-community just north of Lawrence, between Bayview Avenue and Yonge Street. The community is mainly based around the park (called Wanless Park of course), offering many activities for families. A number of the homes face onto the park, which makes for a very appealing at-your-front-door experience.

With the park at its centre, there’s a tight knit community feeling built around the park. Local residents have taken responsibility for tree planting and other community activities that reflect their heightened sense of ownership and care in the area . A highlight of the year comes on 24 May weekend, with a locally organized and often spectacular fireworks display.

The park itself features numerous tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground, a waiting pool (with lifeguard), a baseball diamond and plenty of grass to picnic or play on. In the winter, the park features a public skating rink that’s lit for nighttime skating. Over the summer months it is also a popular gathering place for ultimate Frisbee and other activities.
